Our Goals
- Reduce the amount of solid waste we send to landfills.
- Reduce our carbon emissions.
- Protecting and improving our local environment.
The Brickhouse Environmental Green Team is hard at work bringing sustainable practices to the office. The team established three goals: reduce the amount of solid waste send to landfills; reduce carbon emissions; and protecting and improving the local environment. In order to limit the amount of waste generated by the office, various collections have been established. They include partnering with TerraCycle to recycle K cups and other coffee items, as well as setting up a kitchen composting program where food scraps become compost over time that will be used to nourish the office plants. The office is reducing their carbon emissions by replacing the use of paper towels with hand towels in the kitchen. A few ways the office is protecting and improving the local environment is through the local remediation services they provide to clients, the highway clean up that staff participate in twice a year on Both sides of West Chester Bypass (Rt. 322). The team is also looking into adding future initiatives involving pollinator gardens or rain garden/rain collection bins for storm water runoff. There has even been talk about setting up a roof top bee hive. See the progress in our monthly newsletter.
