Brickhouse Environmental is providing ongoing expert hydrogeologic consulting services to two manufacturing companies regarding the Elizabethtown Landfill in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Under the Federal Superfund program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) identified these companies as Potentially Responsible Parties (PRPs) to groundwater contamination caused by this inactive unlined landfill, and thus they have been assigned partial responsibility to fund the cleanup of this complex hydrogeologic system. Brickhouse hydrogeologists have reviewed multiple technical documents, including a Focused Feasibility Study Report, Record of Decision (ROD), ongoing progress reports, draft Pilot Study Work Plan, and Remedial Design Work Plan for remedial alternatives. In an effort to limit remedial cost contributions by our clients, Brickhouse evaluated contaminant flow through this complex hydrogeologic system with separate but interconnected aquifers in fractured rock formations, and provided technical conclusions and recommendations for remedial alternatives and related costs.
